Privacy

CEO is a local-only macOS application. This page describes what data the app handles and where it lives. It is written to be accurate about the software; it is not a substitute for a lawyer-reviewed privacy policy.

Where your data lives

All application data — your employees, tasks, projects, activity log, and settings — is stored locally on your Mac in a single file:

~/Library/Application Support/CEO/ceo-data.json

There is no CEO server and no database. We do not receive, store, or have any access to this data.

API keys

Any API keys you enter are stored in plain text in that same user Library folder — not in the macOS Keychain. Anyone with access to your macOS user account can read them. We state this plainly so you can decide accordingly. Keys are used only to make requests to the model providers you configure.

Model providers

When an employee runs, the app sends prompts and context directly from your Mac to the model provider you selected for that employee (for example Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, xAI, OpenRouter, or your local Ollama instance). That data is subject to the provider's own privacy terms. Work routed to a local Ollama model does not leave your machine.

Telegram (optional)

If you connect Telegram, you create and control your own bot. Messages flow between your Mac and Telegram's servers using the bot token you provide. We are not in that path.

Payments

Purchases are processed by Polar, our merchant of record, which collects the billing and tax information needed to sell you a subscription and issue a license key. We do not see or store your payment-card details. See Polar's own privacy policy for how they handle that data.

Analytics

This website uses no analytics and sets no tracking cookies.
